What is Reiki?
Reiki, pronounced “ray-kee,” is a gentle and non-invasive healing technique that originated in Japan in the early 20th century. The word “Reiki” itself is composed of two Japanese characters: “rei” (universal) and “ki” (life energy or vital force). Essentially, Reiki can be translated to mean “universal life energy” or “spiritually guided life energy.”
The underlying principle of Reiki is that there is a universal life force energy that flows within and around us. When this energy is balanced and free-flowing, we experience optimal physical, emotional, and mental health. However, stress, negative emotions, and physical ailments can disrupt this flow, leading to imbalances and, ultimately, illness. Reiki aims to restore the natural flow of this energy, promoting healing, relaxation, and overall well-being.
